Power Play
Power Play is the visual identity for the 2026 CalArts Expo, grounded in the language and energy of sports. The system frames the exhibition as an active arena where ideas compete, collide, and gain momentum.
The identity captures the moment when creative potential turns into action. Bold typography, rhythmic motion, and structured graphic rules operate as a playbook that guides every application. Modular elements act like players on a field, enabling flexible compositions across posters, digital platforms, signage, and environmental graphics.
Rather than treating the Expo as a static display, the visual system positions it as a dynamic match. It connects individual projects into a cohesive team and shapes the exhibition into a unified experience that reflects movement, strategy, and collective energy.

Expo patterns developed from motifs of movement and dynamism, using the key colors orange, blue, and neon green. These geometric compositions maintain pattern consistency while prioritizing the visibility of key information.
The logotype motion is derived from the linear geometry of athletic tracks and inspired by movement and dynamism.
